I might need a break!!
Happy Friday everyone!!!
July, already, where is this summer going?? along with my holidays!!! I haven't left home, unless it was for sewing supplies.. I need to get out!!! and get a life...maybe?? Tomorrow, we are planning to go for our first swim for this year. It's been sooooo hot today and yesterday.. so it is definitely needed!! Never before have I been so late to get to the sea!! And to tell you the truth I cannot wait any longer!!
Did I tell you?? I finished it and it turned out just great!!! Really!! I couldn't believe it myself either!! And I'm proud, cause I managed to make 3 out of 4 perfect mitered corners. Yes!! Believe that miracles do happen!! Well, here it is.. my little precious... The heavy cotton backing has been a real challenge!! But I managed after all!! All I have to do now, is wash it, and then make a small label on the back!! So, what do you think?? Like it much??
I keep trying to start on my giveaway's goodies, and something keeps popping up. I had a call yesterday evening, by my friend at work who got the Sunshine and Smiles pillow, and said!!"ooo Eleni, will you make me another pillow till Monday...pleassseee??? Don't say no!!!" Now tell me how can I resist!!! She was lucky cause I hadn't used all the prints of the Happier Fabrics bundle I had ordered. So today, I woke up, made myself a nice Iced coffee, and started brainstorming on what to make her... I already knew that it would involve some patchworking, cause my white background fabric had reached the lowest levels. I thought that I had to make something woodland themed. I remembered that in my favorite book {you all know by now, but I'll remind you anyway Scandinavian Stitches by Kajsa Wikman} had a lovely lovely lovely pattern for a Frosty Quilt. And, after cutting fabric, fusing appliqued pieces, sewing, quilting, pressing, stuffing... I came to this little cute pillow!! It's a regular size this one, just 16''x16''. Wanna see??
I'm in love with it:) I think it's the most wonderful thing I ever made:) I just love those little fluffy clouds.. I practiced and practiced before actually free motion quilting them!! Didn't it turn out sssoooo cute??
I can't wait till Monday to see the face expression of my friend when she'll see it!!! I'm thinking of texting her that she'll be blown away!! But I won't!! It'll be a HUGE surprise...
I'm also sooooooooooo behind with the QAL I joined. Leila from Sewn today probably will be posting has already posted about the third block that we'll be making, and I haven't even started on my second...
So I'd better get back to my sewing world... Have to sew 49 squares, for one of my giveaway goodies and make two blocks now... I so promise myself though, that I will not touch my little machine this weekend... it' ll be all about relaxing... cause I definitely need a break!!!
I wish you a super relaxing, fun, whatever you want Weekend everyone:)
looks great!
ReplyDeleteLOVE your quilt! And your pillow is so pretty :-)
ReplyDeleteamazing applique finish Eleni! What a detailed pattern and design, and the front lettering is so cute! And nice job on the quilting, you did the free-motion perfectly!
ReplyDeleteThat quilt made my heart sing a happy song - that is too adorable for me to handle :)
ReplyDeleteI STILL have not looked at my Scandi Stitches book yet (but I keep thinking about it ) - I keep having the same problem you do - people keep asking me for stuff and I don't get much me-time sewing. By the way, last week's block and this week's were pretty easy (or look easy) so you should be able to catch up easy :)
Have a delicious weekend!
