Happy Father's Day & WIP :)
Bonjour everyone:) and Happy Father's Day:)!!!!
Have you made something for your loved ones?? Here in Greece, it's not a common celebration, so unfortunately I haven't made anything for my dad!!! But I've seen so much inspiration on blogs lately about father's day gifts! I wish I had the time to make him something... Well maybe it'll be a belated gift!!!
So, I delivered the sprocket pillow to my cousin on Friday evening. She loved it!!! But Love (my little niece) seemed to love the pillow more!!! Her mom uploaded a photo with Love trying to sit up on the pillow on fb!!! The cutest baby on a cute pillow:) Just darling!!! I'm in sew-heaven!!! If you wanna take a look, just search sewhappiness on facebook... you'll find me there too!!!:) you can just check the like box on the right column:) and you'll see what I'm talking about:)
Anyway, I've been cutting away yesterday early in the morning!! I've started working on Love's growth chart!!! I've cut almost 30 1 1/2'' squares out of 72!!! There's a lot more to cut!! Here's a little peep on those little squares...
But then my mom came along, and we went for some shopping!!! We have a wedding on July 16th, and a dress for me {that fits} was desperately needed!!! We had a great day together downtown!! When we returned home, she asked me again about the Quilt Along, and when would this start!! I checked and realized that Leila had already posted since Friday her first tut on the log cabin {you can find it here}. I jumped right in!!! And yes!!! I managed to make my first log cabin block!!! I think it turned out great... although I have second thoughts on the fabric I chose for strip 10. Wanna see it??
It took me almost three hours to finish it!!! But it was worth it:) What do you think, I would love to read your opinions!!!
Leila, has also a flick group about the Skill Builder Quilt. Just joined the group pool and uploaded my block.
Sewing plans for this week:)
- A pillow for a little boy, ordered from a friend at work. I'll be using Happier Fabrics for this... I wish I could make him a sprocket pillow or maybe I could applique, sailing boats, or animal figures!!! I have to check with my friend tomorrow on this, I realize now that I don't even know how old this boy is!!
- Continue working on the growth chart for Love!!
- Start on the Life Quilt for my other cousin who's getting married on July. She's expecting a little boy!!! I thought this would be a perfect gift for her wedding!!
- Start on the bag from Beth's sew along!!! I'm in desperate need of a cute bag!! Today I think she'll be posting about zippers!!!uuugghhhh!!!
I'm gonna be sew busy yet another week ;)
Hope you have a great Sunday whatever you do!!!
That growth chart is in my list of things to do, I also have a wedding to go to on the 16th and I'm joining the skill builder quilt-a-long (my fabrics have not arrived yet though so haven't actually started) how funny, so much in common. I've just discovered your blog, it's lovely, I follow you on google reader. If you get time then check mine out www.lawsonandlotti.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteOh Eleni you block is so darling! I love the colors! I am going to start the beg sew-along too. I didn't realize it had a zipper though. I am no good at zippers. You have some super fun projects coming up I can't wait to see them!
ReplyDeleteI'm behind on the quilt along already. I was staring at my fabric trying to think of what would make a good log cabin, when I realized the whole quilt is sampler blocks and i can just make everything scrappy. I'm hoping to squeeze this in today at some point - I do love log cabins (and if I fall behind at the beginning it will be a reason for me to not do it at all, and I don't want that to happen.
