Happy Friday & a little help pleaseeee!!!!

Happy Friday everyone:)

Finally, one more lousy day {since it's freezing again outside and hasn't stopped raining!!!!uggghhh:(} till weekend :) What are your plans for the weekend?? Are you in the middle of something crafty?? Are you making something for Mother's Day? I've done some progress with the Dresden plate mini quilt for my mom... (by the way what an amazing feedback from all of you for the Dresden :) you made me so happy with all your lovely comments!!!).

Before I share with you my progress, let me link up again the tutorial I'm following for the Dresden plate from Sew Mama Sew. So, the front is now finished.

Since I cannot zig zag stitch with my sewing machine, I used a running stitch to sew all wedges and the circle on top of my background fabric.  I think that the dresden design turned out a little larger than the one in the tut... Now, I just have to cut my batting and the back side and quilt it..

I just need your help for the binding. The other day Mr. H's sister gave me this heavy cotton cloth napkin which has the perfect green shade, and I thought I could use this tutorial in order to make the binding myself.  I'm thinking of cutting app. 2'' stripes diagonally from the napkin.  What do you guys think?? Aren't they a good match?

Ohhh I'm running late again!!! I wish that I'll have it ready by Monday, when we'll meet:)

I'm off to my cutting:)

Hope you guys have a sew great weekend:)

  1. The color for the binding is perfect! Bindings from stripes or plaid fabric on the bias adds such interest to the project! For my quilts, I usually use a 2 1/2" cut, but for this project, a narrower binding from the 2" cut will be just right! Can't wait to see the finished project!

  2. I adore the mix of patterns and think that the stripe give it a total modern, fun look! You have a great eye :)

ps. yeah for Cure! Love that you quoted the lyrics in your comment...that song always gets me singing loudly {and unfortunately off key} when I am driving in my car and it comes on!

    Happy Friday, my dear!

  7. You did a great job on the Dresden! It's hard! I made a sampler quilt with that pattern in it a long time ago and that was probably my toughest! The green binding looks great! I'm a new follower from For the Love of Blogs.
